Expert in Wild Collection

  • IMO was engaged in the development of the ISSC-MAP standards for sustainable wild collection (BfN, WWF, Traffic) and was one of the driving factors for establishing the FairWild standard, in cooperation with Forum Essenzia and SIPPO.
  • IMO is cooperating closely with the FairWild Foundation on further developing this Standard as well as implementation
  • guidelines.
  • IMO was involved in a PPP in Usbekistan and facilitated the certification of producers of wild collected plant material from the Caucasus: In coordination with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and further national institutions of the Caucasus, IMO has introduced FairWild at selected partner companies in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Beginning in March 2010, the companies and other national institutions were trained in all aspects of FairWild. Several companies could obtain FairWild certification for products harvested in 2010.
  • Since 2001 IMO initiated and implemented together with the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO; OSEC) a project for development of organic wild collection in the Balkan region.
