Naturland

The "Naturland" association for ecological development of rural land created the first guidelines for forest management in Germany. Together with other environmental organizations (BUND, Greenpeace, Robin Wood), Naturland began a campaign to certify forests in 1996.

Naturland's Guidelines for Ecological Forest Management cover all aspects of sustainable, environmentally friendly forest management. Because these guidelines even exceed the FSC's requirements, a Naturland certificate automatically includes FSC certification. World-wide, these are some of the strictest guidelines, however, their application is currently restricted to Germany.

Furthermore, Naturland's "Processing guidelines for wood from ecological forest management" serve as the basis for the certification of processed wood products. In addition to traceability, these guidelines also include aspects of ecological production and health considerations.
