Objectives
Despite years of continuous efforts and long-term collaboration between importers, control bodies and exporters, the situation and reliability of export product quality remains inadequate. Therefore costs for protective and remedial actions are tremendous and create a competitive disadvantage to the specialty products in the organic and fairtrade market segment.
IMO’s objective is therefore to strengthen the competitiveness of the organic sector installing a joint high quality export surveillance system as to safeguard business transaction standards and to comply with the maximum residue limits, food safety and traceability of exported products.
Our strategy to achieve those objectives is to provide local technical surveillance of the relevant activities to continuously comply with the exigencies of the market and especially of the contractual agreements convened between both sides.

Background
This approach is based on the experience and believe that sustainable quality assurance needs to be based on understanding, motivation and reliability of the operators involved. The operators involved need to fully understand and support the requirements of an international market and to set up and run an internal quality assurance system that provides for continuous self-control, self-monitoring and regular improvements granting regular and best product quality possible.
